Restoring and conservation of outdoor surfaces with problems of mould musks, algae and lichens

Restoring and conservation of outdoor surfaces with problems of mould musks, algae and lichens

The buildings’ exterior surfaces, not only old or already defaced but even the new and in good conditions ones, are continuously exposed to the action of time, weather and pollution.

These conditions lead inevitably to materials’ degradation, a very common and equally complex problem that implies a series of consequences for the integrity and the appearance of the exterior wall surfaces.
In fact, the first effects of the damage – that manifests themselves in the form of infestations such as moulds, fungi, mosses and lichens – compromise the hygiene, the living comfort and the appearance of facades, floors and coverings.

The principal cause of the biological degradation is attributable to the humidity stagnation (condensation)in the wall and in the surroundings. However, in a damp and ideal for microorganisms proliferation environment is possible even with other phenomena such as:

– capillary damp rising

– exposure of the facade to the north

– low ventilation and sunshine

– humid climate areas and with great rainfalls

– poor thermal insulation

– water infiltrations through cracks and fissures

– low breathable finishing materials

Coverings and floors made of stone, facades, walls, paths, stairs, sidewalks, statues, natural stones manufactured products, cotto (terracotta), clinker, concrete mostly need intervention.

To restore and preserve in a perfect state the coatings, the facades and the stone items, CAMP® Surface Care recommends a professional combined system for the definitive renovation against moulds, fungi, mosses and lichens, in three simple steps.

Step 1. Removal of stains and blackening

EN_MUFFA_TRATTAMENTI-1

In the case of dark and extended stains, we recommend a preliminary treatment with the RimuoviMuffa, an active instantaneous sanitizing cleaner that removes quickly blackenings and spots of moulds, mosses, lichens and algae. Thanks to its practical bottle sprayer it is easy to use and it can be applied directly on the areas to be treated or distributed on the entire surface.

Step 2. Redevelopment in depth of the material

EN_MUFFA_TRATTAMENTI-2

When the first phase is concluded, you may then proceed with the application of Muffa Control Risanante, an anti-mould restoring treatment which penetrates deeply, completely removing present infestations and performing a strong protective action against the proliferation of mould, algae, moss and lichens.

3. Definitive protection against weather

Lastly, once the surface has been restored, you may proceed with the definitive protection with Hydro Pro® Eco, the waterproof protective antifouling treatment with high penetration power, which protects the material against rainfalls, humidity, frost, polluting agents and, therefore, opposes the appearance of mould, mosses, lichens and algae. Its formulation, in water-based eco-friendly solution, does not alter the surface original appearance nor its natural breathability, preserving the material original characteristics.

The protective treatment Hydro Pro® Eco is available in three variations:

Hydro Pro® Eco Universale, for all the natural absorbent stones,

Hydro Pro® Eco Cotto e Cemento, for floors and facades made of cotto (terracotta), clinker and cement,

Hydro Pro® Eco Tufo e Pietra leccese, an optimized formula for porous limestone such as tuff, leccese stone (typical Apulian stone) and carparo.

If you also want to definitively solve the mould problem, apply the combined treatment of CAMP® Surface Care.

CAMP engages in the research of the most efficient and innovative solutions for the care and the protection of the surfaces. All the products of the line are available in the hardware and in the building materials stores.
